summer time

Thu May 10, 2007, 9:56 AM
Classes are over and I just found out that I am for sure taking German this summer. It's something I need to do for my degree, but I am not super excited about it. I only need to be able to translate the language, not speak it, so that should be easier. So if anyone wants to write comments in German, I can make pathetic attempts to translate for practice.

I'm writing a paper about architectural form driven by a fear of other people, based on an essay that a historian wrote in 1971. And I am writing another paper on the rhetorical use of biology in 1960 in the work of another architectural historian. Actually, I have four papers to write this summer.

But what I am really thinking about much of the time is:
1. my tiny tomato plants
2. Lego Star Wars
3. joining the local rowing club
... it's been 10 years since I rowed, but I would love to be back on the water.

  • Listening to: Tori Amos - Virginia
  • Reading: Karl Popper- The Open Society and Its Enemies
  • Playing: Lego Star Wars
  • Drinking: lukewarm coffee

Thankyou again for your insightful comment, it's nice to know that the piece is communicating to at least one person in a way I'd like it to, haha.

How are you doing anyway? :)

Yea, I never have any idea how my work (art or papers) communicate to other people. I can always think of millions of ways to see things, sometimes it is hard to see why people choose one way over another. But that's part of what makes life fun, right?

I am good, thanks for asking. Trying to finish up some papers from last year, helping to put together a syllabus for a housing course and looking forward to having all of my coursework for my PhD done. One more year. I think I liked my masters program better or I am just too old for this sitting in class business.

And you?

I am but one of two
I am but one of two who are one
So which am I? Am I the one or the other?
Am I the image in the mirror or am I the mirrors image?

couldn't help but notice your studying @ Yale. Got a friend up there about to finish his first year of grad school...trombone studies.

later.
:iconkablakistan2:
Ah, cool. Yale is pretty nice, the people here seem quite happy and are quite friendly. It's a small community, and I think that is part of it.

now I'm using this account more,
I'm going to watch
because I know nothing about art
and you seem to know a lot :)
:iconkablakistan2:
Why thank you. I actually know very little about "Art". I am an architect by training and a theorist by instinct.

But thanks for the watch.
